I am the forgetful type!

If i take annual leave, I'll normally use the Outlook (XP) out-of-office autoreply feature to let peeps know i'm off, and when i return. However, for some reason, I tend to forget to set this when it comes to the end of the day before i go away.

Does anyone know if it's possible to programatically set the this feature to turn on at a time of my choosing?

Thanks

Damon

There is no Application.OnTime function for Outlook so I am not sure how we could do this.

Maybe you should set a reminder to go off before you get off work that says "Are you supposed to set an out of office reply?"

Thanks for getting back to me, DRJ.

Good idea about the reminder!!!! I need something!

Actually, I have just been toying with the Rules option as the out-of-office thing seems limited.

It appears that I can set up a rule to send a reply to the sender for messages received between two specified dates. Which, I guess, is what i'm after!

(here is the rule description that I used if anyone is interested!)

Rule Description:
Apply this rule after the message arrives
received after 01 October 2004 and before 11 October 2004
have server reply using Custom out of office message

---

A little test email shows that the server kicks out my custom message whether i am logged into outlook or not... hurrah!

Thanks again for getting back to me so quickly!

Hi Damon, have you checked how it reacts if the same person sends you more than 1 Mail?
I'd think that out-of-office only notifies each person once, but that rule seems to send out that message each time a mail arrives.

Good point there Steiner!

Hmm, maybe my 'diss' of the out-of-office feature isn't entirely justified!

I must admit, that function of the the out-of-office feature is handy.
Hmmm, back to the old drawing board!!!

Hello,

Is there a specific configuration that enable the action below in Outlook?

"have server reply using Custom out of office message"

I cannot seem to find it in my Rules Wizard (Outlook 2003).

Thanks in advance.
