Hello,
I am wondering if it is possible to write a query in Excel to be able to generate custom reports in Excel by extracting data from different sheets...
thanks

Well the short answer is "Yes", but we need a lot more information here (and a sanitised copy of your workbook would be helpful as well).

Hello Geekgirl,
thank you for your response..
I have two sheets for data entry (Emp & Sales Area) and one sheet for report (Sales Report).
I have following columns in Emp, Sales Area & Sales Report Sheets
Order No Cust Name Sales Area Price
Sales Area Name
Name No of Quotes Total Price
The query has to take the data from Emp & Sales Area Sheets and summarize data in the Sales Report sheet.
I am attaching the excel file for your ready reference with sample report...
thanks again..

couldn't you create your report from just the EMP sheet?

this will give you a start...
uses vba to get the unique items, formula's to do the rest. If you need more help be sure to post back.
I didn't take the time to put it all on your report sheet but I think you can figure that part out if you examine the vba and formula's. It could all be automated, even adding the formula's.

Hello Lucas, Geekgirl,
I have a solution using formulaes to generate report (similar to what Lucas has suggested).
I am wondering if it is possible to write simple sql queries in Excel just like we do in Ms Access to generate reports...
