I would like to upload a file on a web site and have anyone work with it while on line.
The file contains many macros. Is this possible ?
I have downloaded software to achieve this with an order form with formulas but could not do the same with a file with macros in it.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

While you guys debate the spelling accuracy of the Anglo/American verbiage I do not see an answer to this question so I will rephrase it.
Would you say that an excel workbook loaded with macros can be converted to work on the internet ?
If yes does any of you experts know of a firm that can do this for me ? Any idea on the costs involved (hundreds / thousands) ?
Thank you

ndendrinos,
I'm pretty sure something like this is possible, but it's not my area of expertise. I would suggest you post in the Excel forum and see what someone comes up with. I do know there are some gottya's that you need to be careful/aware of when attempting this.

Thank you Cal. Thought this was the proper place to ask this question.
I'll take it to mrexcel's lounge then.

Hi Nick,
Yes, you can do this with FTP (File Transfer Protocol). I have little experience with this - having only once sorted out a bug on a procedure in a book posted on the Net as an FTP file - so I know it can be done.
Colo has an example of setting up a FTP file here (http://puremis.net/excel/code/082.shtml)

Sounds like FTP could be particularly handy for some things tho. For instance, if a competition is being held at various locations and the central organizers want to instantly collate and publish results as they're collected at each location.
Perhaps I should take the time to experiment with it and learn enough to write up an article about using it :thumb

Nick,
I didn't mean that this wasn't an excel board, just that you posted this in the off-topic forum on this board. You would be better off posting to to the Excel forum on this board, where all the experts would see it. I also noticed that you posted in the lounge over at Mrexcel. If you are looking for opinion's that's a good place, but if you are looking for a solution, I would suggest you post in the main Excel forum there as well.

Sorry Cal just saw your follow up.
I did post at MrExcel's lounge with no replies at all.
John's FTP route has great merit ... I visited Colo's site and was able to access his file and manipulate it. Problem is I was also able to write a small macro on the file and run it OK
So with this scenarios I will have to address the security of the file which is non existent in excel.
I have dowloaded software that converts Excel to EXE . It appears to address the integrity of the file not sure though if I can use the FTP bit to use the file macros and all once I upload it on my website .
I'll post back the results
Thanks again
Nick
