New Laptop

I bought a new laptop the other weekend and, since we don't have a land line in our hovel, I also got a free USB modem from Vodafone UK with a pricey internet plan. Unfortunately I am still "offline" as the new laptop has Vista installed and it doesn't recognise the modem as a modem. Vista thinks it's a CD drive. I can't get hold of Vodafone: another phone company that doesn't bother answering their phones :banghead: (NZ Telecom was pretty good at avoiding calls too). I guess I'll have to get rid of Vista or buy a router.

Cheers for that. Got straight through without hitting the automated system. Unfortunately they told me it just wasn't compatible with Vista and the operator even told me that only three out of 45 programs that he runs regularly are compatible in Vista so he is fairly unimpressed. Helps me not at all. I don't have any older windows versions as this is the first computer I've actually owned.
