I would like a range for example

A1 to H1 to have a conditional format if H1 is equal to a value, without using VBA, unless of course it is possible to have that macro run automatically all the time

Select A1:H1
Menu Format>Conditional Formatting
Change Condition 1 to Formula Is
Add a formula of =$H1="value"
Click the Format button
Select the Pattern Tab
Select an appropriate highlighting colour
OK
OK
