I love this trick!!

Not that I actually NEED to run two instances at once; I'm dangerous enough with one open!!

Check it out here. (http://www.pptalchemy.co.uk/)

Click the Free PowerPoint tutorials, hints, & tips button then look for the Multiple PowerPoints link.

Before selecting Powerpoint from the Start menu, hold down the shift key and right-click on Powerpoint.

This will offer "Run As" in the menu. You can run the second instance as yourself.

There are two small problems with my solution.

First, you need to be sure that you have permission to write to whatever directory your file is in. This isn't too bad.

Second, and this is the larger obstacle, you must choose "Protect my computer and data from unauthorized program activity". If you don't, you won't open the second instance of Powerpoint. HOWEVER, by doing so, you lose the ability to cut and paste in the second instance.

I never thought of cutting and pasting as "unauthorized program activity".

Maybe somebody recognizes something I've overlooked? I've got the disadvantage of not being an administrator to my own PC.
