Thanks, guys. Let's just say that Truman was President and Eisenhoser a few years away. :)
Yes, it was good. I worked Friday, but I was able to work from home. At the price of gas, that is a welcome relief. Then I found out I could also get my birthday off (w/o vacation). So I took off Tuesday and had a four day weekend!!

You people live in a dream world. We pay the equivalent of $7.50 for fuel here, and it is more expensive still in France, Germany and Italy. That's why the world is a mess (your cheap energy).

Bob,
I find it almost comical that we (Americans) get all bent out of shape over a few cents difference in the price of fuel between stations, but will gladly go into the convenience store or gas station and use the ATM machine that charges us $1.00 to $3.00 to withdraw our money from the bank (especially since most are equipped to allow a debit transaction for the gas).
As far as the price of fuel goes, the gripe I have is that it goes from $3.33 per gallon down to almost $2.00 per gallon and then back again. If the fuel you are paying the equivalent of $7.50 for was only the equivalent of $4.50 six to eight months ago, you might have a different view on the price of fuel.
In any case, this was originally a thread to wish Shades a Happy Birthday, not debate the evils of capitalism, conservatism, and the geo-political ramifications of US fuel/energy consumption.
On that note, I'll reiterate my best wishes to Rich, who has been around nearly long enough to have witnessed the creation of the wheel. :bug::rotlaugh:
Kind regards,

Not to mention the $4.00 cup of coffee!

We haven't been that low for years, many years.

Quite right, Rich has certainly had a life. Even if I don't subscribe to his beliefs, I wish him well, and another 70+.

Since I never use ATMs, I don't drink coffee, and I have never paid a penny in credit card interest in 37 years, at least I have something in my favor. ;)
