Has anyone used this before? It's freeware and I tried it. It built great results, on my machine only. I can't get it to work on any other machine!!! Ahhhh. I should have tested it before I put all the effort into it that I did. There is some mention on their website about registering the .chm file, but the site is soo slow, I can't get to any explaination further than that. If anyone could help, I would be grateful. Thanks as always!! SherryO

Thank you, but I tried to use this first and found it very unfriendly. You don't happen to know anything about the other do you?

I'm sorry I do not, other than to suggest you try their support forum: http://www.vizacc.com/nntp/ or to contact the company http://www.vizacc.com/gen_support.php . You might ithat in a dedicated forum there is a wider population of people knowable about that particular product.

I've posted to their forum and emailed them, waiting to hear back... I just thought I would try here too. I did find a go-around that will work for my purposes and that is to simply copy it locally instead of trying to use the network version. Thanks again!!

*I'm going to mark this solved even though I still don't know about the registry thing.

I use West Wind Help Builder, great tool but unfortunately that is not free.

I am surprised that the free product gives problems, I thought that they all use the MS HTML Help Workshop to compile the help file, just providing a friendlier front-end (MS' is dire as you say).

Do post you findings back, it will be interesting to see.

It seems to work great unless you try to launch the .chm file from a network location. There is a componenet of HelpMaker that is called CHMRegister, but I can't get it to work. The front end is great. I created the entire help in a matter of about 1 1/2 hours from scratch (no previous docs), so it's worth it for me to just copy it locally. I think I'll be avoiding a file share error anyway. Thanks for the interest. I'll post again if I find out anything more. Sher
