Congratulations on passing the 5000 mark, Bob. Quality and quantity are a mix that's tough to beat. :thumb
PS Sorry I haven't been around much to help out or read. Been very busy lately, and not likely to let up until the end of August. :(

Thanks guys, it's been a good ride.
When I got to 1,000 posts I made the comment that if I quadrupled my output, I would beat to Moose to 5,000. I must have scared him because we have hardly seen him since .

Congratulations Bob :thumb:thumb Very well done!
I like how your posts don't exactly hand out a full blown explanation of how your code solutions work. You give the OP just enough to go off and look it up on their own. Making them work a little more for the knowledge they'll learn. Thanks for staying with VBAX, Bob :friends:

Simon,
A few years back, I had a very good friend called Frank Kabel. He was a German IT consultant, and an amazingly quick learner. When I met him, in early 2004 he was clearly smart, and knowledgable, but still raw in Excel, and especially VBA. By the end of that year, he had posted 27,000 (yes 27,000) replies to the English language public newsgroups alone, and the quality had risen enormoulsy. In addition, he was posting to Germa NGs, Compuserve, various public forums and groups, we reckoned 50,00 in all in that one year. On top of that, he held down a demanding consulting job, collaborated with me on a couple of Excel add-ins and 6 Excel white-papers. and worked on a book project with me, Ron de Bruin, and Norman Harker. The man was a true phenomenon.

Unfortunately, he was before my time in the forums, and I never did get the chance to cross paths with him. Based on what I know of Frank Kabel, though, his untimely passing was a sad day for the online community. :(

Bob, very elequently put!, i have had the great fortune of Franks knowledge before his passing in Excel Forum, where i first came across you.......i doubt his iconic status with manipulating excel will ever be matched nor should it be!, a truly giving man.
as a P.S, Bob i had no idea YOU were of such notariaty, i know you are an MVP and gave a lecture at a conference but publications too?
I know you need no pat on the back from the likes of me but....Nice one!

Hi Mr XLD
If I still had the authority I had only a few weeks ago I'd give you a knighthood.
As it is I don't so I can't.
Nevertheless, I hope that I have in some way contributed to your knowledge and enjoyment here at VBAX.
You've been a good disciple.
