Can anyone see why the attached excel file will not import through the wizard? I get an ambigious error when I try. Thanks

I got it to import in Access 2000. I added underscores to the field names in the excel spreadsheet and that didn't work.
Next I removed the leading spaces in your Title field name and it imported using the first row as field names and accepting Access 2000 defaults. I don't know why removing the leading spaces would make a difference but in my case it did.

Hi,
I too have noticed if there is a " " before a column header in excel..then access refuses to import/link. It probably sees it as a problematic column header......
Worth the pain to name your column headers..here are some points I follow:
1. Avoid special charachters like *,!,@,#,/....etc.
2. Avoid spaces before the name: " "mytitle
3. Avoid spaces between columns headers with multiple strings , use underscores: MY_new_title.
5. Avoid column headers greater then 256 character length.
6. Avoid duplicate column headers..example : mycolumn _name appearing twice as a column header.
7. Avoid totally blank column headers....else Access will assign random column names like : F1,F2...F20.
8. If you have to use numbers as column headers use them with an underscore.
thanks and regards,
asingh
