Hi all

I have 18 free gmail invites to give away, fancy a bit 1GB email action? Or if you're really daring try gmailfs http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=gmailfs&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

I'll need your email address to send the invite on..

gmailfs is a filesystem for your 1gb of gmail space, it's an uber geeky thing for people with more time than they should have :)

thanks for the explanatiom... as much as i love to file things, i think that is too far above my head at this point... i have heard of unix and linux before but have never seen them so i got lost right there lol...

maybe once i finish my BSN i can start taking classes to learn more about PCs (with my spare money hardy-har-har...) everything i know now is either self-taught or tidbits that i have picked up from forums like this :) im so geeky, i have a book at home on C+ or C++ that i found on clearance at the bookstore... i dont even know what C+/C++ is, but i knew it was something about computers and (possibly) programming so i bought it LOL... am i a mess or what?

ok, i'm rambling... i'll stop now :D

Hey guys,

Check this out... If I read this right, you can install a Gmail add-in for Firefox which will notify you of your new Gmail.

Hey Ken

It works really well and is more lightweight than the google notifier but it's only draw back is you have to have your browser open to use it (obviously :) ).

However, for all the VBAX addicts out there, what else is a PC for other than to have the browser open waiting for posts?

On that note, check this (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0&os=Windows&category=Download%20Tools&numpg=10&id=115) out! Reloads your webpage for you at set intervals! I guess you could set it to the "New posts" page and never miss one! :D

This is pretty cool! I installed the gmail notifier, and after a bit figured out how to set it up. lol

I used to forward notifications when on holidays, etc, but now can have almost real time updates tied directly to the browser, so I can access forum notifications both at work and home. :yes (Yeah, allright, I'm a geek, but hey, at least I admit it!)

This is VERY cool. Thanks, Zilpher!

... it's only draw back is you have to have your browser open to use it (obviously :) ). Hi Zilpher,

Thought you might be interested in this (http://toolbar.google.com/gmail-helper/). It's a link to gmail's notifier for windows desktops. I actually found it by accident, as I thought that the link in the gmail settings was going to be the Firefox plugin. I have to remember that not everyone is using Firefox yet! :D So I guess what I'm trying to say is... Not anymore!

The notifier is still in Beta, but seems to work okay. The only complaint I have with it is that if you're using XP's default blue toolbards, it really isn't that obvious that you have new mail. It's slightly different than the "no mail" icon, but they use pretty close to the XP blue to highlight the mailbox when you have mail. You certainly can't tell from 10 paces away. Go figure.

The pic attached is when you actually have mail. Remove the blue, and that's when you don't.

Does anyone know when GMail is going to be ready for people to sign up for one like they would a Hotmail account? I'd love to get one!

DRJ,
WOW! THANKS!
:cloud9:

Am registering as we speak! Too bad my first name if 4 letters, need to have 6 - 8 characters for a username.
:(

Am curious, how do you get invites?

After you register you will get some. I registered and got 6. Gave those away and got 6 more. Gave those away and when I just checked I had 50.

kpuls - have you figured out a way to turn off the voice? that was my problem with it... i stopped using it because i could not figure out a way to turn off the voice feature and i get hundreds of emails there a day so the "chick" would never shut up lolol

Actually, I haven't got the faintest idea what you're talking about. You're hearing voices? :rotlaugh:

No seriously, I didn't even know it did that! That would be really irritating!
