I know this is a simple one, but I haven't had time to figure it out......... We need to highlight rows (amount varies) based on specific criteria (in this case Y) in Column Q. Thanks in advance for the assistance.......

Hi Pam,
Good news! You don't VBA for this :) Select the range in question, click tools, conditional formatting. Change the dropdown to "FormulaIs". Put it =$Q1="y".
That should be it. (If your top row selected is not 1, make sure you use the top row instead of 1.)

What you type in the conditional formatting dialog is applied to the top left cell of the current selection and copied over and down through the rest fo the selection. By making the column an absolute reference (by using the $) and leaving the row relative (by omitting the $) each cell will refer to column Q of it's own row.

It will self update this way too.
