opening up documents in folder

Hi, anyone did the following before?

Opening up text files one after the other in a folder and getting some data out of them based on matching strings and copy them into excel?

Anyone can point me to some available code which can do this / parts of this?

Are the textfiles in a special format ? csv or something else ?
