attach a macro

I have a macro and it is attached to an excel file.
But when i save it out with a different file name and then run the macro on the original file, it doesnt run. Everytime I need to go and re-attach the macro (through assign macro).
Why is this happenning?

How are you running the macro? If you're running it through a toolbar, you also have to attach the toolbar. Don't SAVE AS files with macros. Instead, use Windows Explorer to copy them. Alternatively, use a personal.xls file. There's an article here somewhere on VBAX that explains how to do that.
