If I choose Show -> Header and Footer and then I personalize the right footer with this code:

&[Page] of &[Page]+5

I get: 1 of 15

Ok, I know should be using &[Page] of &[Pages]

But I am curious. Is that a bug??? :dunno

By the way,

if I put &[Page] of &[Pages]+5 I still get the same result "1 of 15", no matter how many pages does the plan have.

Hi Paleo,
I copied and pasted your setting into Excel2000 and it came up with 1 of 6, 2 of 7, 3 of 8 etc.
With [Pages]+5 I get 1 of 11 ... 6 of 11:dunno

&[Page] of &[Page]+5

By the way 2,

if I put a single space after the "+5" it works fine.

Any idea?

Hi mdmackillop,

thats even stranger, because in excel XP and 2003 the problem I have described happens. Tested English and Portuguese Brazilian versions. Problem on both.

It also does work for me in xl2000 (English). It looks to me like your original line is treating the + as a concatenation operator ("1 of 1" & 5 = "1 of 15"). No idea why its doing this to you!

Hi mvidas,

Yes, exactly. It is treating the "+" as a concatenation operator. Even if you type "1+2" it does not sum them, simply consider then as a string, but if you add a single space after then like "1+2 ". Voilla, it works fine. Any reason for that other than a bug?

Hi Paleo,
No problem in my Excel2003 either. Out of interest, here's a zip file which is OK with me, how does it show with you?

Gee, now its worse. Now I must think it has something to do with regional settings. Can it?
