Linking/Locking cells

Hi guys,

I'm not sure if I'm right to call it as linking cells as the results when I search online don't seem to be what I'm looking for. Basically, I want to link 2 cells on the same row. For example:

Column A (First Name) Column B (Last Name)Row 1Julia Roberts
Row 2 Richard Gear

I want to "lock" A1 to A2, so it doesn't get jumble up when I sort any of these column by alphabetical order.

you dont need a script to do that.

if you have names in cells A1 to B20, you select A1:B20 when you do the sorting.
you will have one cell that is white and the rest is blue when you marked the range. the white cell is what you want to sort by.
so if the white cell is in A1 you will be sorting first names
by pressing TAB the white cell will jump to B1 and you will be sorting Last names.


another way to do it is to create a list.
rightclick on a cell and there should be a option, create list.
mark the cells the list should hold
