Well its happening.... the last of my children is leaving home today. One part of me is filled with excitement and another is kind of sad.

I'll be able to play my music without getting howled at, regain control of the TV and turn down the volume. The telephone will now become avaialble, not to mention that the phone, food and electricity costs should nearly cut in half....

I'll be able to park in my own driveway, and not half way down the street. I'll be able to have a decent conversation with the bride rather than having to compete with some headacke creating music being played 5 rooms away....

The bedrooms shall now look like bedrooms rather than an exploded clothing store...

Yes I'm kind of excited.

That's sad. I'm not ever going to let my girls leave, this is their home.

Jonathan Ross said something last night that I actually agree with, it's nice just being in the house when the kids are there. You don't have to talk to them, be with them, just knowing they are there.

My youngest started Kindergarten this fall. I didn't know what to do with all of my spare time at first. I had gotten quite used to having to leave my office every five minutes to get a new video tape, DVD, or snack for him. Now when he's home during the week (like he will be on Monday for President's Day) I am extra happy to get interrupted.

I will enjoy the day when he and his two older brothers are off to college. My monthly grocery total for the wife and I should be about what I spend per week right now (and that will no doubt go up as the two younger boys reach their teens).

I do agree with Bob about how nice it is to have them home whether we are actively doing something together or not. It's nice just to have them around. It seems like just the other day I was still changing diapers and getting bottles - oh, wait, it was!! My brother and his toddler sons just left from a visit. :bug::rotlaugh::bug:

I'm with Bob on this. I always want my kids to think of this as home. I have 2 still in college and one who has moved away to LA. His wife just finished her masters in Spanish and they are talking of moving closer to home so we can help them when they start their family.....now we're having fun......I am looking forward to it.

Our youngest left home 17 years ago... Still miss having him around. We will see him, his wife, and the four children in another month - first time in 2 years! Enjoy every minute with them you can, you may not have much opportunity later.

Well, congratulations I guess. :) I'm sure it will be a difficult change, and I'm sure they'll be missed, but I bet you enjoy it.

ROFL! Oh Bob, you kill me sometimes. :) I think your girls would have a different approach when they're all grown up. ;)
