I keep getting locked up (frozen), & I have to do ctl alt delete & end task.
Also, I'll be in the middle of something & IE closes & goes back to my desk
top. Plus, I keep getting a pop-up that states will I accept about blank as
my home page. I have History Kill & even to go to this page I've had to
disable it (I blocked the about blank home page, but can't stop the pop-up
from coming up & asking me numerous times about changing my home page), & I
no longer have the MSN search engine I use to get - it's totally different &
doesn't get much of what I want.

I have defrag'd, I have plenty of disk space, run my anti-virus.

Where do I need to start to get these stopped - most important is getting
locked up, then at other times knocked off IE & going back to my desk top.

I've had History Kill for over a year & have not had any of these problems
before, so I tend to feel History Kill is not my problem...but I could be
wrong?????????

Forget about IE and use Mozilla FireFox (http://www.mozilla.org/).

Or

Download the freeware programs AdAware (http://www.lavasoft.de) and SpyBot (http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index.html) and run both to get rid of a bunch of junk that has accumulated.

Update IE to the latest version and service pack.

Download SpywareGuard (http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareguard.html) and install it. This program will stop Browser Hijack programs.

Hi, and welcome to the board!!

Another good site to get rid of the About: blank spyware is ..

www.majorgeeks.com

Do a search for "About: blank" (w/o quotes). You'll get almost the exact same results as DRJ just gave you. Find and download an app to delete this spyware virus. Also, if using Windows XP hit Ctrl + Shift + Esc. This will bring up your Task manager. Click on the Processes tab and look for an "lsass.exe" in the listbox. If you do see it, do another search on MajorGeeks.com for "Sasser Worm" (again, w/o quotes). This one will be much tougher as there's so many permutations of it out there.

Let us know how it goes. :)
