My dream job (totally unexpected but a 30 year dream) recently became a reality, nothing in anlysis or Excel or... I am now President of our Seminary. My primary responsibilities in the first two years will be developing/providing continuing education for those who are already pastors - with a lot of traveling!

By the end of this month I will probably use Excel for the last time (very little "spare" time). Thanks for all the experts who endured with me over the years as I struggled to learn Excel and VBA. It has been enjoyable, challenging, and exciting. :friends:

The last seven years allowed me to earn a living using Excel, while maintaining my pastoral mentoring role and my part time teaching. Now, teaching, specifically theological teaching, which has been my life's passion provides me with the opportunity to combine it with earning a living.

I wish all of you the best in your jobs and with Excel.:hi:

Rich,

I saw first hand the joy that you take in your new position when we met last summer for lunch. I could tell when you talked about this position that it had a tremendous amount of meaning to you. I am always happy to hear about good things happening to good people and this opportunity for you certainly fits that bill.

If the pastors at the seminary are able to grow and learn from you in the same way that the members of the Excel community have been able to, the church has done itself a tremendous service in choosing you to head the seminary. I wish you much happiness in your new position and hope that we can stay in touch as I truly value your opinions on Excel and life in general.

The boys had a great time in Kansas City this summer and I'm glad that we had the chance to get together and have a chat.

Congratulations!!

I said it before, and I'll say it again, it has been an absolute pleasure to know you Rich. I wish you well in your endeavor and will be very happy for you, as I know you've been wanting something like this for a while. I'm very, very happy for you!!! :D

Congratulations Rich.

I am sure you will enjoy it, but I bet you will be sneaking off to snatch a breif moment of Excelling.

And can you mentor me on how you made a living from Excel, it barely supports me.

Ah, it helps to pretend that you know something about the topic. In my case it was Marketing. But I had never done anything with Marketing (wasn't even considered a field at my university). I had never used Excel either. Yet I got hired as an analyst for a Fortune 50 company because of my math background 40 years ago.

Yeah, I know, who'dda thunk it. :D

Sad to hear that you might be giving Excel away Rich. I'll bet you have withdrawal symptoms.... Best wishes for your future.

Rich,

Congratulations on your success! Dreams do come true, huh? :)

It's an inspiring achievement and thank you for sharing it with us. As Bob said, I'm sure you'll be back once in a while. VBAExpress has those types of powers (as well as Excel).

I wish you the best for your new adventure. I hope it's as exciting as you expect it to be. The best of luck to you :thumb
