Before I couldn't even spell XML, and now I'm trying to use it

I just want to do simple things to my doc's interface (Excel, PP, Word):

Add a new tab when it loads
Put controls on it to run macros
Remove the tab when the doc closes

I've looked as the MS documentation on XML and the Office App controls, and the Custom UI Editor and the Ribbon Customizer

I have figured out how to add my CustomUI.xlm to the file (that was an adventure in itself), but trying to come up with the XML is a lot more than I thought.

I can't find a 'icon' list for controls either

I did think that I could look at MS's XML to see how they put different controls onto the ribbon, but can't find where they hid that either.

Q1 - Is there any 'cook book' of code snippets out there that shows the XML for common tasks?

Q2 - Would this be a canidate for a KB article?

Paul

You can even see a sample chapter at http://www.excelguru.ca/node/93 . It will be the book I buy when I'm ready to dig into the Ribbon. I've been surprised by the lack of posts here on the topic!

That's because 2007 is seriously flawed. Maybe 14 will be what it should have been.

I'll probably go with the book also -- I wonder if there are the book's examples, etc. available as a download, since I'm typing challenged

MS does have a free XML editor available that seems a lot easier to use than Notepad - like CustomUI editor that's used in the book

Don't know if the CustomUI editor has Ribbon-Specific features, but the Sample menu on it only shows 4 fairly specific "components"

I'd like some type of computer to complete this in addition to take action well (nothing more definitely matters that will much)

Use Flight Sim Back button (which will be seemingly slow-moving jogging on several PC's)
Be considered a music creating studio room ( thus I might need to be able to put inside a beginners guitar, keyboard set, microphone, etc)

That may be it. And so i realize this kind of seems like the contradiction inside terms -- what is actually the cheapest very best set up I am able to vacation your can however execute a great employment?
