Hi, I'm new to Access Programming (I'm an excel person). I like the Data Access Page concept but I am having trouble making it work for me. I like that the data can easily be grouped by fields. What I would like to do is to have the user type in a value and have the DAP show those values.

Please help. Thanks.

Hi ProteanBeing,

I'm afraid you're going to have to be more specific or check out a tutorial (http://databases.about.com/od/tutorials/ss/dataaccess.htm).

There are three fields:
Job Number (primary key)
Material Number
Cost

How do I create a Data Access Page that asks the user for a material number and displays all records that have that material number? I already have created a DAP that shows this format. I want to limit the selection.

I think you're after grouped DAP. Check out this article. Step 4 is particularly applicable to your problem.

The data is already grouped by Material Number. I want the DAP to open up asking the user which material number they would like to interface with.

PLEASE!! I know that what I want to do is possible but I can't think of how. I want to type in the material number, push a button and see all records for the material number. I know how to group but how do I go to a specific material number?
