COUNTIF for more than 1 thing on the same formula

i have 2 sheets where i need a countiff. i have on my first column a set of wording and on the first row i have the years. and i have my info on sheet 2 columnA is the years and columnB is the wording.
PLEASE HELP ASAP

You can try this:

=Countif(Range,"Condition 1")+Countif(Range,"Condition 2")+....

What are you trying to count?

i think thats the way i tried it and for some reason it didnt work. im tryin to count defective areas and parts that have been found in a specific year

That doesn't really help, I meant in terms of the spreadsheets, what cells/columns/rows/values etc.
