Clicking on the dropdown does nothing here (do you use MsCal.OCX?).

What colour dropdown menu?

oh that was data validation that i had used with the built in conditional formatting tool i forgot to turn it off
when i selected the word from the drop down it changed the cell content's font to the associated colour as stipulated in the conditional formatting utility but it replaced the cell content with the word select which was not supposed to happen

You've totally lost me. Was that just a pssing comment, or an explanantion to my question (if so, it failed.)?

ok sorry
i was attempting to use the built in validation tool to get a drop down menu of font colors but it failed.
What happened was that after i used the pop up calender to enter dates
i wanted to select from a drop down menu and change the font colour of the date but it wasnt working.

Your asking me questions about something I cannot see. I can't mind-read so I cannot answer such questions.
