I am using Word2000 under WinXP. I have a table in a document that is 2 cols wide by approx 100 rows long. I wish to add "something" that will contain the date/time when a given row was last updated but do not wish to show that information; it will take up scarce space, possibly cause confusion and only the underlying application really cares.

I have tried a few approaches, e.g., using DocProps, linking to an external xls file, and a 3rd col to the table. The mechanics of any method are pretty simple. The DocProps and external xls file both work but the "hidden" 3rd column is preferred.

So, is there a way to hide a Table column (or row) similar to the way that is done in Excel.

Thanks

I have upgraded to Word2003 and am still looking for a simple way to hide a column in a table. Any ideas?

Hi MWE,

You can't hide a column, but you can minimise its width (it probably doesn't matter whether the text in that column is easily read).
