Date Formatting help

Can u help which formulas can convert the date to MM/DD,
Original is 08142008, how can I change to 08/14

Select the cell you want the new format to appear in. Then select Format/Cells, Custom, and create a new format mm/dd.

I might missing something as the cells( A1 = 08142008 )
how can it change to cells (B1 = 08/14 )
