Is there any way to make a PP2007 SmartArt into a template or to set a default?

If I insert a SmartArt, configure it (fill, shadow, font, etc.) the way I want (or the way the boss wants), the next time I insert the same SA, i I have to re-apply the formatting again.

I thought about trying to make a theme, but that seems complicated to set up

Paul

PS - apparently you can't upload a PP file, so just remove the .zip part

Hi Paul

I don't know how to get what you really need but it might help to know that with SP2 (released 28th April) you are now able to ungroup smart art and then use format painter or the apply styles tool. Don't think it works via code though (at least not for me so far)

Thanks, I found the suggestion to turn SmartArt into shapes, but then you lose the reason I started using SmartArt in the first place:(

Also found a web site that said the SmartArt object model in not exposed to VBA :( :(

Since they are shapes, I guess I could use VBA, but boy would that be tedious :( :( :(

Used to be a way to 'Save as Default' so that all shapes created after that would use it as sort of a template, and I was hoping I missed that somewhere

Thanks

Paul
