The ss is Excel. The size is 1.4mg. When I load the ss anytime I put in anything
in the ss it starts to calculate. It might take it 7 seconds or more to do the calculating and then it might start all over again. I have a new computer and
1 meg of ram. Is there a problem or does it take that long for the calculating to
take place. Thanks

Hi Max,

I believe you typed wrong right? You must 1 Gb RAM and not 1 Mb right?

Yes, you do have a problem, thats not normal. Can you post your ss here? (It must be zipped first).

You are correct on the RAM.Here is the ss zipped. I tried to upload the zipped
file but it said it was too large. Here is another one with the same problem.
I tried another in zip format. The file size is 1.5 mg too large again. What do
you want me to do?

Hi Max,

I use ss a lot larger than that (around 140 Mb) and dont have this kind of problem, so its very strange. Did you try to disable tha autoupdate function from tools - options?

There is many linked cells to another ss? From another computers?

I will check with Jake whats the size limit for attachments, but meanwhile cant you make it smaller? Your problem isnt size at all. If you simply cant make it smaller or you believe its problem IS the size, simply let me know and I will provide you by pm an e-mail to send the ss.

There can be design problems in setting up the worksheets for calculation order, and also for function/formula calculation sequence. I helped someone redesign an 8 MB xls file, which took him 10 minutes on recalc. After redesign the recalc took 3 sec.

Carlos I changed the auto update to manual. That helped. It is still slow on doing the
calculating. What about the size of the ss. Can I send it to you directly?

Hi Max,

I used it and it worked just fine to me. Can you tell me what exactly you do to get it working so slow? Tell me step by step, please and I will test it again.

Carlos Here is the whole story. I cut off the auto calulate and the slow times when away.
There is something else. I use a program named XLQ. It looks over into Yahoo and brings
the mkt prices over into the ss. It was updating every 10 seconds so I changed it to
once every min. That has helped with the slow stuff. I want to thank you you all your time and help
