list property of listbox (access 2007)

Hi all. I Need to use listbox control to list items in columns. I found many examples in the developers help files that use the .list property of the listbox. This property triggers a compile time error that says "data member not find found" when i debug - highlighting .list in my code. The property isn't there! But is there in the microsoft access developer help examples! Confusing. I am Using the listbox in a modal form by the way if that helps. Also i have tried both the form control listbox and acctivex control list box. None seem to have the list property. Can someone check on their system if this property appears or offer a clue or explanation as to why the property isn't there but there in the microsoft documentation. In excel the list property is there and works fine.
