Solved: vlookup and dates

Hi,

I am trying to do a vlookup between two sets of dates in two spreadsheets.
The dates both look the same, 01/06/2009 for example.
However the vlookup pulls in #N/A.
Now when I look in the lookup value in the vlookup screen I can see the result as 39965.
The formatting of the cell is in General as 39965. I have changed the formatting to be dd/mm/yyyy but nothing seems to work it still brings in a result of 39965.
How can I change this to actually bring in the date as dd/mm/yyyy

Sounds like it thinks it is text. Try a Data>Text To Columns on it and see if that fixes it.
