Excel - Data Validation Lists

Hi - I have created a template (Trial.xlt) which inserts a template (litigation.xlt) as a new sheet for our laywers to record their time. I am trying to use a list from Trial.xlt template which populates a column in the inserted worksheet (litigation.xlt) but the validation list does not work if the template is opened as a new document because it is renamed "Trial1.xls" and as such is not recognised by the name range. Is there a way to create a list in VBA that I can use in the sheet for specific cells.

I am not sure that I understand the problem, but could you not have the list copied over?

They want to be able to pick from the list as opposed to just see it and the data validation list works from another workbook but not a template as the workbook gets renamed. Am open to any other suggestions....
