Assigning a macro a shortcut from the desktop

Not sure if this is possible or not..Can you run a macro from a desktop shortcut if the workbook is not open?

You can run vb script. Depending on what you want to do it may work for you. vb script is just a text file saved with the extension .vbs.

But if you want to run code from a workbook, then that workbook will have to open first before the code can run.
