Hi all,
As some of you know I'm quite heavily focused on Internet Security these days - heck, stop by my site and you'll see all manner of news articles and stuff to read through!!
Anyway, one thing I had to share with you though is this: It's now possible to detect - AND BLOCK - phishing and pharming scams in their tracks. You know sometimes you get that email that LOOKS like it's from your bank but it isn't?
FraudEliminator, LLC (http://www.fraudeliminator.com), have released a new version of their extremely popular toolbar for Internet Explorer - and the best thing is the new version also includes a version for Firefox!! It will examine the site you're on, to see if it looks at all suspicious, and if it is it displays a warning message.
Their servers have a database that contains a massive amount of data on these kind of sites, and once you install the toolbar you get periodic updates - about every 24 hours or so, so you've always secure in the knowledge that you're safe.
Some toolbars of this type claim to be "Adware or Spyware free". As far as I am aware, this is the only one of its type that actually is - it only sends the information on the sites to the database that you tell it to - by you manually clicking on the "ReportFraud" button on the toolbar.
Anyway, at the very least it's worth a try, right?
There are two versions. The free one updates every 24 hours or so, whereas the pro version updates immediately new sites are submitted by users around the world - so a few times an hour, at least!
You can read more on the toolbar and the company behind it from here (http://www.fraudeliminator.com)
Or...
Download the FREE version from here (http://www.fraudeliminator.com/sb/fraudeliminator.exe)
BUY the Pro version ($19.99 USD) from here (http://store.esellerate.net/a.asp?c=0_SKU73007665169_AFL5541663080)
Hope you find this of some help - I've already installed this toolbar on a large number of my clients computers around the area!!
