Charting Question with Line and Scatter

I'm having problems with combining a line and scatter chart. The red dots on the line charts represent the corresponding data i have, so only a few months out of the year have data but then excel extends it to all months. How can I show just the months with data? The little black lines with the dates is a scatter graph.
