totals query - group by field

Hello,

In order to be used as a "group by" field does the field have to be of a certain datatype.

I am having problems grouping by on a text field. My data is a string thats been split up (as the original long string is really a few fields one after the other - its an extract from an accounting system)

Phil, the Query doesn't usually have any problem with grouping by text fields.
What problem are you having?
Can you show a screenshot of what you get, as against what you want?
