I am running Word2003. I have been plagued by corrupted menus in Word.
Menus created by any method (manually via Customization, programmatically via VBA or AddIns from other tools like pdf creators) do not endure. Some examples (different cases):
the entire menu disappears from one instance of Word to another.
the top level name of the drop down is still there, but the contents (the individual picks) are gone
menu picks from other menus suddenly appear in the corrupted menu
the primary picks are retained but any 2nd level picks are gone
the menu structure and functionality remains, but all the face IDs have disappearedThis never happens with menus that "come with Word" as part of the initial install. They are never corrupted and their picks never appear anywhere else EXCEPT for (OEM) picks that are added to a custom menu of some type.
I thought I had tracked down the problem two years ago to the Adobe Addin for Acrobat. I saw an thread somewhere about a similar problem that was traced to the Acrobat Addin. I uninstalled Acrobat and the problems disappeared for quite a while. They have now returned.
