I sent this as a PM to Zack and figured, what the heck? I'll tell everybody!
I just got the coolest freaking t-shirt you ever saw.
I'm supposed to wear this survivor's t-shirt for the American Cancer Society thing, you know (http://www.mrexcel.com/relayforlife.shtml)...
And Bill Jelen told me he was sending it and I need to wear it Friday, June 18. Well, I got it in the mail today. You wouldn't believe what the dork (read, really terrific guy--I only use the term "dork" lovingly) did to the back of it. I got logos for Ozgrid, XL-Dennis, Colo's Junk Room, VBAX, MrExcel, and a few others. It's just sooo freaking cool, I'm sitting here bawling my eyes out. Thought I'd share that with ya... pictures will be made...

That's great, Anne!!!
I found out last week a very good friend of mine has been diagnosed with melanoma - they already took a 6"x2" section out of her leg. She's 44, and has 4 teenage daughters.
The march continues on... let's hope cures are around the corner.
Blessings and prayers for you.

Leave it to me...
I didn't look for a card. So hubby has just handed me the card that came with the shirt. In case you can't read it, it says:
Yo, I didn't get the purple survivor for you 'cause the back would have been unreadable...stop crying your dorkette...watch the webcam Fri night.Knows me well, huh?
Now, all I have to do is figure out where the webcam is.

Yo,
Anne - I did snag you a survivor's t-shirt, but it won't be as cool as that one above. The event was cool. Good weather. 500 people. They raised $47,000 for the American Cancer Society. My team (geez... I should have called it Dream's Team...) is just a few bucks short of $2500.
If you've never been to one of these events, GO.
After the national anthem, all of the people in attendance who are survivors walk the first lap. There were a million of 'em. It took 9 pictures to get them all in. Survivors wear purple, and so scattered amongst various teams, you see people you know, wearing purple, and you think, wow - I never realized...
It is a big party after that until about 10PM. They turn off the lights. There are 1000 luminarias. A bagpipe plays something and they read the names from the luminarias while everyone else is silent.
Then, lights back on and it is a big party again all night. People are pretty exhausted in the AM but keep going until almost noon when the winners are announced and everyone does a final lap.
Our local Relay is small. 25 teams. 500 people. $47K. I read in the newspaper about another Relay the same night in the next county where they raised $160K in 18 hours. In the past 12 years, across the country, all Relays combined have raised $1 Billion total.
It is also good to get the word out.... the best chance for surviving cancer is to detect it early. Regular check-ups are important. Get the mammogram. Get the colonoscopy. Finding it early means you have a much better chance of surviving. I learned this from reading the sign alongside the track over and over and over and over.
Re: the shirt above... an awesome collector's item. All of my favorite websites in one place. I was stupid enough to order one too few, so I hope Anne puts hers up on E-Bay so I can buy it back and get one for me!
I did have the webcam going. There must be 500 shots. Browse at http://www.mrexcel.com/relayforlife.shtml .
