trigger proc. with a date

I have a log with dated entries. A new log must be started at the end of the year. Is it possible to trigger a procedure when I enter the last date of the year (12/31/10)?

Why not use the computer date to trigger the proceedure ( and have a run once type function)? First time the file is opened on any date on or after the 1/1/11 it fires the proceedure.

I'm with Ted. Put a check in the workbook open event which checks the date and some first run flag somewhere, on a sheet, the registry, or a defined name, to determine whether to start a new log.
