View Full Version : Adjust volume of Windows Media Player (non-embedded) from a slide

Our church has a very simple PowerPoint slideshow that runs in a continuous loop so that people can see it when they come and when they leave. At the same time, for background music I have Windows Media Player open; it plays a list of 10 music tracks in "repeat" mode, over and over. It works very well for us and is easy to do. The Media Player songs are not connected to PowerPoint in any way.

This week, on one particular slide, we will insert an audio clip -- a verbal announcement that we will record. Here is my challenge:

- Somehow, I want to "programmatically" lower the volume on the Media Player when this slide starts... so that people can hear the audio clip.

- When the next slide begins, I want the volume on the Media Player to raise back to where it previously was.

Can this be done? I hoped it might be something easy with a few lines of VBA, but I have searched everywhere without success. I am a bit of a newbie to both PowerPoint and VBA, though I've used some VBA with Microsoft Access... so if there is an answer, can you please give the exact code and instructions that I would use? Keep in mind that the Media Player is running outside of PowerPoint; it is not embedded in the slideshow.

Many thanks and prayers to whoever can help! :hi:
