Ok, here's a new one I have http://Recipephile.com/.

Only have the forum (http://Forum.Recipephile.com/) up and I am not even sure I am gonna keep phpBB in that folder.

Not sure what is better to use

http://Forums.Recipephile.com/
http://Board.Recipephile.com/
Any opinions? On where to keep phpBB or ideas for the website?

I like http://Forum.Recipephile.com/ as the forum. That is if you're planning on having content on the site besides the forum.

firefytr,

I do plan on having a main website.

Some ideas I am toying with

Recipe of the month submitted in forum as voted by forum members
Recipe entry (that works like the KB entry here) if I can find some open source code to handle that
Recipe book of the month?
Links to online specialty stores
Directory of local specialty stores/restaurants (again provided by forum members)

The CMS (Content Management System) that I plan to use for the main website has the ability to have members (like the forum) who can write articles or add web links and so on.

A lot of it will depend on having good community members so I'll have to wait and see.

One thing you might consider is a cascade of Food Groups -> Food where you can detail individual ingredients such as fennel and cardamom, etc. with nutrient and calorie information

I'm wondering if you really want phpBB for that, and not vBulletin.. Just a personal preference I guess. :)

Thanks!! That's a great idea!! Maybe cooking tips on how to use the ingredients?

Well, it's more of a financial preference rather... phpBB is free!

Away! For all that vBulletin costs. $85 for a year's lease. If you want vBulletin then lease it for a year and see if the site takes off. Sell ads on the site (have a look at how Fiction Addition (http://www.fictionaddiction.net)'s advertising section is set up) with specific gastronomic relevance and let the ads eventually pay for the site's forum and hosting. :D
