Mergemail problem

I created a mergemail on Microsoft Word 2010 on a Windows 7 computer. It works fine on my computer but when I email it to my colleagues who are running Windows XP it fails to open. They are connected to the VPN, the mergemail is in the appropriate folder but still gives out error messages.

Any idea why and how I could solve the issue?

Do they also have word 2010? Or are they using an earlier version of word? If so, do they have the compatibility pack installed?

Have you tried saving you 2010 document as an earlier versio of word?

Yes done all that. My excel file was connected to the sql server via various ODC files, do I have to copy paste them from My DataSource too?

Done all what? Still don't know what version of word the users on XP are using
