View Full Version : Solved: Server rules: moving mail to a public folder
Hi all
My system is Outlook2000/2003 on a Exchange 2003.
Case: A user goes on hollyday and wants all incomming email to be moved, so
Is it possible to make a server-side rule in Outlook that moves all incomming email to a certain public folder. The public folder is not mailaktivatet.
I am new with VBA, so any help will be usefull

Hi and Welcome to VBAX! :hi:
I don't have Exchange so I can't test along with yah.
It seams to me you don't need any VBA to accomplish this. With a simple mail rule this could be done? (At least it should if you can access the public folder from the target machine)
What to do:
Choose Tools | Rules Wizard
Choose New
Choose Check Messages when they arrive -> Next
Skip this step choose next and acknowledge the msgbox all mail wil be checked.
Check: Move to Specified folder (Below in rule discription press specified to browse to the public folder) -> Next
Skip this step - Next
Give the rule a name and make sure "Turn on this rule" is on.
Press Finish
In my opinion that should work
Enjoy!
Hi Mos Master
Thanks for the reply, but I found out that rules (server) only works with mailactivatet folders :(

How do I "close" the thread

Hi Rico, :yes
You're Welcome of course!
You can mark the thread solved in the way I describe in my signature..
Cause I don't have Exchange installed I'm not able to test for you. But tell me the following:
Are you able to move the email to that folder by hand? If so I can imagine we can build a custom rule to move the mail by code if it works the same as in normal outlook. (And I would be surprised if it didn't)
Later..
