View Full Version : Set Custom Automation for an Object automatically

I have a presentation where (unfortunately) the End-user will be inserting an Excel Workbook on Slide # 10 and I need to set the Custom Automation for this inserted Workbook to be “Open> With Previous”.

The End-user will be inserting the Workbook using the Insert> Object> From a file> No Link as an Icon.

I do not want the End-user to have to set-up the Custom Automation for this newly inserted Workbook.

Is it possible to have VBA set-up the Custom Automation, or can it be hard set ahead of time at the slide level, or any other suggestions you might have?

One obstacle is that I won’t know what the “Object Number” will be – which is used to set-up the Custom Automation.

I wanted to insert the Workbook into the ppt from Excel (I’m using Excel to populate all the other Slides) but cannot find a way to Insert a Local File into a ppt using Excel VBA so I’m going to have to rely on the End-user to Insert the Workbook into the presentation themselves (a scary concept).

I'm using Powerpoint (and Excel) 2007.

Thanks for any and all ideas…
