Converting x y values from a chart mousedown_event to cooridinates in side chart

I am using a chart mouseDown_event to capture x y coordinates, to do a "X marks the spot" operation, However; X doesn’t mark the spot. There is an offset that increases each time the mouse is clicked. Is anyone familiar with algorithms that will convert the differences between coordinate systems.
