I am writing an MS Access 2010 project. I have SQL Server 2008 Developer's Edition.
I created two stored procedures that passed the "Verify SQL Syntax" button. But when I attempted to make a third similar procedure, suddenly none of them will pass the "Verify SQL Syntax" button and they cannot be saved. I get the error message: ADO error: syntax error or access violation

I've tried giving full permissions to each Stored Procedure on the SQL Server side. I've done the same with each SQL table involved.

My solution is related to my total ignorance of SQL Server. I found I needed to give permissions within the stored procedures themselves. -or not-?? That's what appeared to fix things, but I'm not totally sure that some other reason might have done it.

I'm at that stage in learning the nuances of SQL that if something works, I count my blessings and move on --- kinda like back in the 80's when we were trying to get modems working on Mid-sized computers. "experts" from IBM and AT&T and the modem manufacturer and the software developer (that was me) would kibitz with each other, massaging things. And suddenly the modem would work and no one knew why. Kinda like that.
