How to Connect to an API

Hello,

I am trying to connect to a Web API through an https connection to extract information from the server.

I have been looking for information about programming VBA to connect to an API and have found nothing....basic enough. I am completely lost when it comes to API programming, and was wondering if someone had a template of a connection procedure in which I could "fill in the blanks" (i.e. connection, login, and data function calls, etc).

I think this could give me a starting point.
