Or in other words upgrade a database I developed in access 2003 to access 2010

You will not be able to export using Access 2003 directly to a ACCDB (ACE) data. You will need to use Access 2010 to open teh .mdb to export directly to an .accdb.

I find it a lot easier to open the 2010 databases and import objects from the other database. You can easily select multiple objects to import at one time.

You can use Access 2007 or 2010 with a .mdb Unless there is some feature that are only available in the new .accdb (ACE) format I would leave the database in the .mdb format.

Using Access 2010 you will have technical issues with any database due to bugs in Access 2010. Hopefully bu the SP2 update these issues will be resolved.
