A customer got hit with a virus last week. They had an IT guy clean them up. But now the MS Access database program will not start when clicked. I've created a new shortcut, tried starting it from the .mdb file. Nothing.

The only thing that works is opening MS Access 2003 and then starting the database from there. That won't do when dealing with mutants.

Any suggestions?

MacroShadow gave me the answer, which is putting the full path into the shortcut.

His example, for Northwind:

"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.exe" "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Samples\Northwind.mdb"

You of course need the true path-- for MS Access 2003 it meant that Office was in subdirectory Office11.

The second quoted section is the application you are running with its full path.

Thank you, MacroShadow.
