Hi,

This isnt quite as simple (i hope) as the title suggests.

Ive had a good look into this one and made a few attempts, but up to now the options seem quite restrictive, in terms of position of the word and number of words.

I need to pull a word from a sentence (title of video tutorial), where the word could be situated in any point of the sentence. but i also have to be able to extract from a range of different words (catagories of tutorials).

e.g

blue black red white

the sky is blue blue
the blue ball is round blue
the sky is black black
red is the colour red
i potted the black black
teeth are white white

Hope this makes sense

Try this array formula

=IFERROR(INDEX({"blue","black","red","white"},MATCH(TRUE,ISNUMBER(SEARCH({"blue","black","red","white"},A1)),0)),"")

Snd?

And what does the previous post, about all of the extra words, mean? :dunno

That's embarrassing. That'll teach me not to rush a response while doing something else.
Sorry about that.
In the example I used there has been a load of extra words added. I can't even blame auto correct because I was typing on the pc

I get called James, Bob, xld, first time for snd :)

I thought those extra words were real, and to show something.
