View Full Version : Make style available in find/replace

I want to be able to embed some styles in a template, and then, when people use this template, they can also use its styles/macros for find/replace operations involving these specific styles.

I tried 2 ways. (The styles exist in the actual template.)
1. Putting template in word startup (does not make the styles available, only the macros)
2. Adding styles to normal.dot via Organizer. Styles do appear there, but I cannot see them when I try Find/Replace, Format, and look in Styles.

Any help would be appreciated.

"when people use this template"

If the styles are in the template, then absolutely if people USE the template, those styles will be there to be used.

That means documents are created using the template.

Maybe I was not clear. The main way of using the template is by it being in Word startup folder. It does make macros available, but not styles for Find/Replace.

But they ARE avaialble if you use the template as a template. Therefore the styles are available for any find/replace in a document made from that template.

Other than global add-ins (macro use only), that is what templates are for. That is their main purpose.

BTW: templates as macro containers do not have to be in Startup; they can be in ANY folder (including network folders). In fact, I very rarely put macro containers (templates) in Startup. I tend to load them dynamically, as I need them. If they are in Startup, they are always loaded.
