I have a spreadsheet that a colleague is using to scan barcodes in. When he scans them in, they scan onto one cell, autofill the cell to it's right with a quantity of '1', and then tabs to the line below to start again.
I want to be able to reject barcodes if they aren't a specific product, ie if he's scanning mens products and tries to scan a womans product, it'll reject it with a msgbox telling him why.
I've used an SQL database that's linked into one of the worksheets, that contains all the possible barcodes, with product groups for each one.
Ideally i'd like some sort of VLOOKUP that takes the barcode number entered, searches for it in the other worksheet, and if it's a product group I don't want, it rejects it and wipes the line clear.
How would I go about doing this? I've only just found out about VLOOKUP so i'm not too sure. Please help!
